October 15, 2013

In June 2007, Chris Benoit tragically murdered his wife Nancy, his 7 year old
son Daniel, and them committed suicide in their Fayetteville, Georgia home. The news of this tragic event spread like wildfire. The media also did not put a lot of facts into their reports. In fact, the media put more
fiction than facts into their reports.
When there was a press conference held by Michael Benoit and the Sports Legacy Institute, you didn't see any of the media telling us what they found out.For me to find out what they found out was by looking at a piece of Chris Benoit's brain was for me to look at a story done by Nightline and a documentary about Chris Benoit.
When you watch Larry King Live, there was a panel of friends and co-wrestlers with Chris. The panel included people such as John Cena, Chris Jericho, Ted DiBiase, Steve Blackman and Bret "The Hitman" Hart. They discussed the tragic event, Chris as a father, husband, friend and a co-worker. They also discussed about Chris as a human being. Chris Jericho talked about how shocked everyone was about this tragic and horrible event, how the WWE found out about it, told the wrestlers there along with the WWE canceled the events for Monday Night Raw and made it into a tribute show dedicated to Chris.WWE dedicated a Monday Night Raw to Chris Benoit and his family, but less than 24 hours later issued a statement to the effect that if the WWE knew how horrible the event was they would have never dedicated the show to "The Canadian Crippler". I found this to be a horrible thing to someone whom worked for you for several years and even got hurt working for this company.
But, here are some facts: If Chris Benoit, had not been taking steroids, other drugs that were found in his home or if he didn't have a brain of a 70 year old Alzheimer's patient, he would not have committed this tragic event. The Sports Legacy  Institute proved this theory.
The WWE will not induct Chris into the WWE Hall of Fame and has basically erased Chris from the history books, because of the nature of tragic event occurred. But, why is it really bad to keep Chris' name put so many years, blood, sweat and tears into the wrestling world. He worked years to achieve what he did. I know the event was tragic and horrid, but he should be inducted for his achievements, not for the tragic and horrid event. Is that so terrible to do?
